Coaching Packages
Feeling like you don’t know where to turn to get your career off the ground?
Despite years of hard graft you haven’t moved forward much?
Maybe you left college fired with motivation, have started auditioning and now feel like you have no idea what the next step is?
Leaving college is scary, you lose the lecturers’ guidance (or nagging!), the friendly faces everyday in class, and you can feel the pressure to get a fantastic job immediately. Let Survive in Dance individual mentoring support you to develop your career.
Auditions are demoralising. When you have shifted other work, paid your last £20 on the train fare, maybe even been called back for a second day and suddenly it is over, we can be there to help you get back on your feet and stand tall waiting for your break.
Trying to keep up appearances with family and friends?
There is nothing worse than the family get together when someone well-meaning jokes that they haven’t seen you on TV yet, or when are you going to settle down and get a proper job! Sometimes it is easier to inflate your experiences for an easier life, they never really understand what you do anyway, so why not ask them to help by paying for your coaching!
It can seem like failure to take work outside of the sector especially when people around you appear to be getting on but this really is normal. They call it resting jobs and actors starting out expect to be doing more of these than actual acting. With help from Survive in Dance you can work through what might be the best options for you to pay the bills and still get to auditions.
Dance specific support
Dance is a specialist field with its own specific skills and requirements and Survive in Dance is best placed to help you through to the next stage of your career. We listen in detail to your experiences and feelings and offer straight-talking, supportive advice, ideas you might not have tried and a different perspective on your journey.
You have the talent and technique and we will motivate and ‘tool you up’ to get past this short but difficult stage and into a flourishing career. We know you can do it on your own but a bit of handholding and specialist support will make it a whole lot easier.

Action not Counselling
Survive in Dance offers individual coaching to help you voice your dreams, develop a plan of action and start the journey. In coaching we look forward, working with you unpicking what each step is, who or what organisation you should be approaching and looking at the whole picture of your life on and off-stage. We can review your finances, help you consider resting jobs and guide you to see the bigger picture.
At the end of the coaching you will have a clear journey mapped out, satisfaction from tasks already accomplished so far and targets for future steps. Empowered to brush-off knock backs as you focus on the bigger picture you will have the skills to try different routes your dream career. Ultimately you will be empowered to achieve success and fulfilment in your dance career.
Coaching for career changes or to fine-tune elements of your activity
Many people have rewarding and enjoyable careers in dance without having to ease through post-performance muscle pain each morning. We can help you review your skills and interests to pinpoint where you could be best placed in the sector or beyond. It is only after you have tried it that you may find that your love of dance does not need to translate to being paid to perform or a recurring injury may force a change of direction. Survive in Dance has specialist knowledge and 18 years experience of the breadth of non-performing roles in the dance world.
If you feel that you want to move outside the dance sector we can work with you to identify your transferable skills and articulate your experiences in a more traditional business language.
Maybe the dancing is going well but you are not bringing in enough money to make it all work?
This is such a common issue and working as a freelancer involves effective use of a range of business and negotiation skills (often not covered when studying). The CV is filling up, journey has begun but your income does not reflect your effort. Survive in Dance coaching can go through your activity, reviewing your income and expenditure, advising and expanding your skills to ensure that you get the best deal for your work. Understanding and selling the value and quality of your work is essential where people are frequently aiming to make savings.
Survive in Dance also has the following range of specialist coaching programmes available:
- Making your own work
- Setting up your own company
- Preparing to take your work abroad
- Shifting to a non-performance career
- Dancing and personal finance review
- One-off mentoring sessions are also available.
